Vincent “Vinny” Munno — Co-Founder & Co-Owner

The Sound of Goldcoast

‍Vinny Munno's music is woven into the character of Goldcoast Ballroom itself. As the man behind the sound, he sets the standard for disc jockeys not just in South Florida, but around the world — reading the room and choosing the songs that move dancers of every level and every style.

Today, beyond the DJ booth, Vinny directs the production of Goldcoast's calendar and schedule and oversees the ballroom's day-to-day business operations — the steady hand behind the scenes as much as the energy on the mic.

A Dancer Since Childhood

Vinny's path to Goldcoast started at age eight, training in ballet, jazz, and tap with a dream of becoming a Broadway dancer. He spent eight years studying ballet at the New Jersey Dance Theater Guild — paying his own way by working as a maintenance man and front desk assistant — and graduated from the Dance Educators of America Teacher's Training School in New York City. For six of those years, he performed in the Guild's production of The Nutcracker.

Vinny later turned to ballroom dance in earnest, becoming an accomplished dancer and competitor. Dancing with U.S. Champion pro Susie Thompson, he won the U.S. American Rhythm Pro-Am Gentleman Championship in both 1999 and 2000, the U.S. American Smooth Pro-Am Gentleman Championship, and finished as the Ohio Star American Rhythm Finalist in 2001.

Beyond the Dance Floor

‍Vinny grew up in New Jersey in a musical family, learning to play the organ at age five and later serving as a church organist. Through school, he competed in baseball, soccer, and football, and excelled in gymnastics.

His path outside of dance has been just as varied: Vinny holds a degree in mortuary science and worked at Baird Case Funeral Home for two years, before beginning a banking career as a loan processor and spending eight years as a branch manager. That financial background is exactly what he draws on today in overseeing Goldcoast's business operations.

On the World Stage‍ ‍

Vinny's reputation reaches well beyond Goldcoast's own floor. He was invited to serve as DJ at the first-ever Annual Euro Salsa Congress in Munich, Germany — an international event he shared with Co-Founder Jeff Sandler, who served as Host and Master of Ceremonies.
